Job Title: Automation Product Builder

About the Role

We're Network Brainiacs — a team that lives for spotting broken workflows and rebuilding them smarter. We're looking for a full-time builder who sees a messy business process and can't help fixing it. You'll spend your days turning manual chaos into working software: automations, dashboards, agents, and internal tools that make real operations run smoother. You're not waiting for specs. You're hearing "our invoicing process is a mess" and coming back with a working prototype that proves a better way.

Coding is no longer the bottleneck — judgment is. The leverage in this role isn't writing code faster; it's being right about what to build. You'll own problems end-to-end: understand the workflow, decide what should exist, build it, test it, and tell us whether it's worth keeping.

A quick note on how we work: you'll RDP into a dedicated Windows dev environment we provide, accessed through your assigned Azure credentials. It comes fully loaded with our toolchain — Claude Code, Cursor, our test data, the works. No setup headaches, no "works on my machine," no AI subscriptions on your dime. You log in and build. Our internal team handles the production codebase merge on our side, so you stay focused on what you do best.

What You'll Own

Designing and shipping automations that replace manual work — invoice flows, estimate pipelines, client onboarding, ticket routing, reporting, anything currently done by hand. Building dashboards that surface what matters instead of dumping data. Prototyping AI agents that handle real tasks: drafting follow-ups, flagging anomalies, summarizing activity, triaging requests. Spotting workflows that scream "automate me" and pitching them before we ask.

Who You Are

You think in systems. When you see a process, you can't help mapping it — what's the input, where are the failure points, what should the agent decide versus what stays human? You've built things people actually use, not just toy projects.

You're fluent with AI tools — Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, n8n, Make, Zapier, whatever fits the job — and you have strong opinions about which one to reach for and when. You can build a React dashboard, wire up an API, prompt an LLM into doing real work, and stitch it all together into something that runs.

You have product instincts. You'll push back when an idea is wrong and pitch better ones. You know when something is "done enough" versus when it needs another pass. You're comfortable hearing "this isn't quite right, try again" without ego.

You're self-directed. We're not going to hand you tickets. We'll describe a problem and expect you to come back with options.

Nice to Have

Experience with PSA tools, Autotask, ConnectWise, or other MSP platforms. Background in invoicing, billing, or accounting workflows. Familiarity with workflow automation platforms (n8n, Make, Zapier, Power Automate). A portfolio of side projects or shipped tools that didn't need a manager to exist.

Logistics

Full-time, fully remote. You'll need a reliable internet connection and a computer capable of running a stable Windows RDP session — we'll provision your dev environment, Azure credentials, and AI tooling. We collaborate through specs, demos, and conversation — not tickets.

How to Apply

Submit your application through our hiring portal with your résumé, links to past work, and a short answer to this question:

Tell me about a time you built something nobody asked you to build. What was it, why did you build it, and what happened?

Strong applicants will be invited to a take-home project as the next step.

Automation Product Builder — Application

Initial screening for the Automation Product Builder role. ~15 minutes. We read every answer.

Answer every required question to submit your application.

Q1What is your timezone?*

Detected from your browser: UTC

Q2Are you comfortable working in a remote Windows dev environment via RDP, using tools we provide?*
Q3Which best describes your relationship with AI coding tools?*
Q4Which of these have you actually shipped work with? (check all that apply)*
Q5Tell us about a time you built something nobody asked you to build. What was it, why did you build it, and what happened?*
Q6Describe a workflow you've automated end-to-end. What was the manual process, what did you replace it with, and what did you learn?*
Q7Show me your thinking. Pick any business process you know well — could be from a past job, a side project, a friend's business. Map it out: what's the manual workflow today, where are the failure points, what would you automate first and why? Be specific. Vague answers will hurt your application.*
Q8Here's a real scenario. A client says: "Our invoicing is broken — invoices go out late, some never go out at all, and we don't know who owes us what." You have 30 minutes with their team and access to whatever data they have. What questions do you ask, in what order, and what would your day-one plan look like after that meeting? Don't tell us what we want to hear. Tell us what you'd actually do.*
Q9Tell us about a project where you disagreed with the original plan and pushed back. What did you suggest instead, how did the conversation go, and what was the outcome?*
Q10Paste a link to a working project you've built (deployed app, GitHub repo, Loom demo, anything). In 2–3 sentences: what is it, what was the hardest decision you made building it, and what would you do differently now?*

After you submit you’ll get a private status link — bookmark it to check back on your application at any time.
